Welcome Pregnant and Postpartum Folks!
Midwives Working Together to Be “With Women”
Midwife means “with woman” and this is taken to heart by the different types of midwives out there, all with different expertise, legal regulations and skills. So you’ve advocated for yourself and decided to have a home or birth center birth with a Certified Professional Midwife. Frustratingly, the lack of recognition of the experience, safety and expertise of CPMs by the healthcare system has made it more challenging to get evidence based prescription treatments when needed. Instead of bouncing around between your primary care provider, urgent care and ob/gyn provider who don’t understand and may not respect your choices, come see me. I’m a Certified Nurse Midwife who can order labs, prescribe medications and work in most healthcare systems in multiple states. I value a professional and mutually respectful relationship with your midwife and care team, and feel passionately about doing what I can to make your pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey as stress-free, empowering and safe as possible.
A FEW THINGS I CAN HELP WITH…
Birth Control
I’ll go over all of the currently available birth control options with you in detail, answering all of your questions and referring you to quality, evidence-based information. If your desired method requires a prescription, I will send it to your preferred pharmacy. If it requires an in-person procedure (such as an implant or IUD), I will help you find a provider’s office if you don’t have one. I can provide prescriptions for birth control pills, injections, the patch, and the ring. I can also prescribe Plan B and Phexxi.
Breast Infections
Having mastitis or a breast yeast infection can be a miserable time- made worse if you can’t get the appropriate prescriptions you need in a timely fashion. I can prescribe antibiotics or antifungals, and help support your breastfeeding journey however I can.
Vaginitis, UTI, Herpes
If you’re struggling with a straightforward vaginal or urinary tract infection, a genital herpes outbreak, or recurrent infections, I can send you a prescription to your preferred pharmacy, and we can talk about prevention and suppression options tailored to your unique situation.
Postpartum Depression/Anxiety
Postpartum depression and anxiety are common and can become a barrier to feeling like the best, most confident parent you can be. I can prescribe medications targeted at depression and anxiety to help balance your neurotransmitters in order to help you feel better during this time. I also have referrals to great therapists to help you navigate the uncertainties of the postpartum period. We can work together to support you during this time in your life that should feel happy and empowering.
